Macintosh fortune files
Oh, and here's a fun item, chock full o' Derp! The Macintosh
Fortune file! Now you can enjoy the quotations of your
most favorite and well-known Mac users, and get a bit of daily
Mac minutiae from fortune (6).
I expect you to know where to put macintosh and macintosh.dat,
but, if you don't, in most unix environments, you just need to copy them to
/usr/share/games/fortune/ and fortune should
find them just dandily. This is pretty much what the readme states.
If you're using some other form of a fortune program, or one installed from some kind of ports or package, you should probably consult the manual pages which came with your software; it may expect the default fortune files to be placed elsewhere. I'm not a mind-reader, after all.
Thanks to Joe over at Incoming! software, for helping me fix earlier broken revisions.
I've given these files a good deal of testing now, but, should you have any troubles, give me an e-mail. Heck, now with OS X, it's actually possible to use these on a Mac. Howdy-do and doody-how!
