Intentions

I'm just a soul whose intentions are good...Oh Lord, please don't let me be misunderstood.
--The Animals, Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood

Whilst walking through campus today with a fellow student in engineering, a man came up to us. He was carrying a bag full of Pixy Stix and he handed me and my compatriot a little card about this mission Church that he was a part of. Turns out, he was trying to get donations in exchange for the sweet, sweet candy in his bag. Me, never one to turn down a chance to get sugar, well, I decided to buy some. So, I made my donation and got three Pixy Stix.

I headed into the office, and started talking to my boss about some Macintosh issue I've been working on solving, when a co-worker stopped by and commented on the Pixy Stix and asked where I got them. I told them what had happened.

"So, you were walking along," he said, "and you didn't know this guy, right?"

I replied affirmatively.

"And you bought candy from him?"

And I nodded my head.

To which my co-worker replied, "So, in short, you're saying you bought candy from a stranger?"

Well, I hadn't really thought of it that way. But I guess it's true. I bought candy from a stranger. Thus, in my good-intentioned way I went against everything that my teachers and mother had ever told me about candy and strangers. So, let this be a lesson to you: The good candy always comes from strangers.

I was buzzing from the Pixy Stix all afternoon.
