Marmalade Dog 4

The day started not unlike any other. Most of it was spent as one would spend any day. This whole project, the "Marmalade Dog 4" project really began coming together in the afternoon, perhaps around 5 PM or so. Most of us met at J. P.'s house and ate pizza. After having stuffed ourselves to the gills, we got dressed and ready to go to Marmalade Dog 4.

Chancellor was quite excitable before we made it in. He had to stop for a breath.

The drive there was nothing special. Having arived there, we became slightly lost. J. P. apparently knew someone who could help us find our way around in there, but we couldn't quite find the room.

Somehow, we managed to find the room, and off we darted!

Even Matthieu, the KAMSC scholar, can somehow lose track of where he is. Boy, was that place ever confusing!

J. P. has found the holy grail! We found the registration section! All we had yet to do was pay to enter the contest! Sadly, between all of us, we had almost no money, and they didn't accept Kinko's copy cards. Damn.

Perhaps one of the most climactic moments of the night was when we all raised our fists and cried "Blue Nebula forever!"

Chauncey took a little moment to wax sentimental on his years spent so that he could finally enter a contest. His training apparently not only cost him all this time, but also a couple of paper cuts and sprained wrists.

We posed for a group shot. Smile, everyone!

Chancellor looked almost sick with anticipation of the upcoming events! He had been one of the most prevalent figures in the whole gathering of the group, and couldn't wait to spend some time trying out his skills.

Jason Reese came along to enjoy the festivities, too. He, although not particularly adept, was really swell at relating our concerns to everyone else at the contest, and was, as always, eager to please.

Here were J. P. and Dudley still scrounging for money with which to register so they could enter the contest. Sadly, we ended up penniless, really, and couldn't register. At least they tried to give it one more shot.

Here, J. P. had met one of his acquaintances whom he noticed. This fellow (whose name I do not have) was explaining how he made mini-sized collectables.

You asked for it, and here it is. A close up of one of these said mini-sized collectables. This is, as may be obvious, one that is being painted. No word on what the market value is for such a collectable.

Here's my personal favorite picture of Nick Lucking, resident expert at, well, I don't know what. Gad, that's disgusting

After an apparent chase by bullies, we all dived under some desks out of sheer determination to keep our dignity.

Watch out for flying desks!

On what looks to be a high from too much Mountain Dew and Airheads, J. P. has recovered from the desk having dropped on him, and is running on to his next adventure.

We all learn a valuable lesson to take our medicine before strenuous activities. Here Matthieu has a slight spill because he forgot the consequences of not being careful.

A little laugh was had at my expense, as I, being behind the camera, tended to lag behind a little.

We were harangued by a bully, the fellow whose head is encircled in the picture. He swore at us profusely.

Said bully again. Because of his tormenting us, we finally had to leave, hanging our heads in shame all the way.

Cullen recounted his experiences from an earlier convention that turned out similarly, Jellybean 17.

The night ended with the suave and debonair stylings of Jason Reese.

After we finished our filming, we all went to Community Access Television to view the footage, after which I was promptly horse whipped for not having shot a better picture of the bully. But, overall, our trip to Marmalade Dog 4 was a great success, to be remembered for years to come.
